We are representing our client in the Oil & Gas industry to look for an experienced Accountant to complement the existing team.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting processes, including month-end closing, financial statement generation, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
- Ensure smooth month-end closing and timely reporting.
- Manage treasury, cash flow, and internal/external audits.
- Provide financial support to projects and monitor key accounts (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger).
- Prepare and adjust journal entries, reconcile transactions, and resolve discrepancies.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of financial systems and reporting processes.
- Coordinate the implementation of new reports and assist in specialized claims (e.g., GST).
- Analyze expenses and forecast fiscal year expenditures.
- Maintain integrity of accounting ledgers and reconcile general ledger and fixed asset reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits and respond to departmental inquiries.
- Investigate variances in accounting records and initiate corrective actions.
- Own and lead the P&L reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timely presentation.
- Identify and resolve monthly accounting issues through cross-functional collaboration.
- Oversee the preparation of close binders supporting monthly P&L and ensure process improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership to represent Accounting and Controls in key projects.
- Provide technical guidance on compliance, revenue recognition, and asset capitalization.
Requirement:
- Degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant financial accounting experience
- Understand both basic and complex accounting concepts, including a good working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- High level of technical accounting skills and the ability to coordinate multiple sets of related accounting records simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of general ledger systems
- Principal, practices and techniques of municipal accounting, auditing, budgeting, taxation, and revenue.
- Knowledge in General laws and regulations governing municipal finances.
- Knowledge in redevelopment agency law and accounting.
- Plan, organize and supervise an accounting program.
- Conduct financial analysis and research, prioritize tasks and supervise personnel; reports clearly and effectively.
- ERP experience is required and knowledge of SAP is preferred
- Solomon accounting software knowledge a plus.
