We are representing our client in the Shipping industry to look for a Head of Marine Ship Building.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Oversee all phases of new vessel construction projects, from initial concept and design to final delivery and sea trials.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Collaborate with naval architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Monitor project progress, identify and resolve potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Technical Expertise
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations (e.g., IMO, Class Societies), and customer specifications.
- Stay abreast of the latest shipbuilding technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of materials, equipment, and components.
- Ensure quality control throughout the entire shipbuilding process.
Client Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Communicate effectively with clients on project progress, challenges, and any necessary changes.
- Manage client expectations and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Implement and maintain a strong safety culture within the shipbuilding department.
·Business Development:
- Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and proposals.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to network and build relationships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Class one MEO Certificate (Marine Engineer Officer).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in shipbuilding, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in shipbuilding standards and sequences, including database management for ship inspections during construction, block division, building sequence, and pre-outfitting procedures.
- Shipbuilding experience of containerships in China and Korea.
- Able to manage multiple projects across different sites or locations.
- Proven track record of successful delivery of complex shipbuilding projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
