We are representing our client, a technology conglomerate to look for a experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer complement the existing team, managing mechanical design and integration of cutting-edge laser and electro-optics systems for defence and security applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of opto-mechanical subsystems for advanced laser and electro-optics systems, including optical mounts, enclosures, alignment mechanisms, thermal management, and vibration isolation
- Perform tolerance, structural, and thermal analyses using simulation tools to ensure mechanical stability and robustness of design
- Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and precision alignment of opto-mechanical subsystems, ensuring manufacturability and field readiness
- Perform prototyping, integration, environmental testing, ruggedisation, and optimisation for mobile or fixed deployment platforms
- Collaborate with system, electronics, and optical engineers to ensure mechanical designs meet performance and operational requirements
- Develop and maintain comprehensive and accurate technical documentation, including design records, test reports, and validation data, ensuring compliance with configuration management and industry standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in opto-mechanical design for precision systems, preferably in defense, aerospace, or photonics industries
- Strong background in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL)
- Familiar with optical alignment methods, thermal and vibration management for sensitive optical assemblies
- Hands-on experience in optical alignment and integration is strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of optical-mechanical interface requirements
- Structured, detail-oriented mindset for engineering documentation and system integration
- Strong collaboration skills to work across optical, electronics, and systems teams
- Proactive in problem-solving and field support during testing or deployment
